Iran claims to have developed hypersonic missile

Iran has developed a hypersonic missile capable of penetrating all defenses, General Amilali Hajizad, commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Forces, claimed on Thursday.

The general said he believed it would take decades to develop a system capable of intercepting missiles, declaring it a giant generational leap for missiles.

What is a hypersonic missile?

In addition to higher speed, hypersonic missiles are maneuverable, making them harder to track and defend against than conventional missiles.

While countries like the United States have developed systems designed to defend against cruise and ballistic missiles, the ability to track and shoot down hypersonic missiles remains an issue.

Unlike ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles fly in low orbits in the atmosphere and have the potential to reach their targets faster.

North Korea test- fired a hypersonic missile last year, sparking fears of a race to acquire the technology.

Russia is currently leading the ability  to develop missiles, followed by China and the United States. Moscow even claimed in March that it had used a hypersonic missile in Ukraine in what would be the first use of the weapon type in combat, but the US has never confirmed its use.

Both Iran and Russia are under severe sanctions  after the U.S  unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal between . Tehran and world powers, and after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.

Hypersonic missiles like conventional nuclear-capable ballistic missiles  can move at more than five times the speed of sound.

This hypersonic ballistic missile was developed to counter air defense shields  Iran’s Fars news agency quoted Hajizad as saying. It will be able to put in all anti-missile defense systems.

The two countries responded to the sanctions by stepping up cooperation in key areas to help boost their economies.

Iran makes progress in diplomatic standoff

Iran on Saturday admitted to sending drones to Russia but said it did so before the war in Ukraine before announcing so-called hypersonic missiles.

The Washington Post reported on October 16 that Iran was preparing to launch missiles at Russia, but Tehran denied that the report was completely false.

The claim was also made against the backdrop of stalled talks to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. The deal with six major powers, Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, exempts Iran from sanctions in exchange for assurances that Iran cannot develop an atomic weapon.

Iran has consistently denied it wants a nuclear arsenal, but in July it claimed it had developed  the technical capability to make a nuclear bomb.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of the COP27 climate summit in Egypt on Thursday addressed Iran’s claims that Tehran’s announcement  raises concerns, concerns and adds to Iran’s nuclear program. public attention.
